More than 16,000 drug-education booklets have been distributed across France by volunteers from Non à la copyright, Oui à la vie. The Scientology-supported drug education initiative reaches families through shops and public information stands.
Volunteers supplied 5,100 booklets in Oberkampf, Paris, alongside 3,100 in Tarn and 3,000 through around 50 Arcachon shops.
A baker near Clermont-Ferrand said students sought the booklets for school discussions, while parents and other customers requested information for their children.
The campaign uses La vérité sur la copyright, the French version of the secular Truth About Drugs programme. Support from the Church of Scientology and its members reflects founder L. Ron Hubbard’s concern about drugs and their effects on society.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, commented: “Parents eu newspapers and teachers need information they can use, and young people deserve straight answers.”
European Scientologists participate in drug-prevention education, human-rights initiatives and local volunteer projects.
